What makes for a good newsletter?While I can't speak for anyone else, here's what works for me...
The best marketing newsletters are written by practitioners and hands-on experts. Sometimes, the author's excitement can feel so contagious it pulls you into reading the previous issues, too. There's one more thing that I appreciate: strong personality. When reading newsletters – marketing or other – I like quirky and unconventional ideas. The world is too boring for soulless, boring newsletters. This said, below are the newsletters (in random order) that I'm always excited to see in my inbox. I hope you'll discover some new favourites! My fave newsletters1. Growth in Reverse by Chenell Basilio A weekly breakdown of a successful newsletter business & its growth journey from 0 to $$$. 2. The Performers by Aazar Ali Shad My fave newsletter on paid ads & Meta video ad trends. 3. Marketing Ideas by Tom Orbach Out-of-the-box marketing ideas and crazy experiments to expand your marketing mix. 4. B2B SEO & Growth with Annika Helendi B2B marketing and SEO tips from Annika, my go-to expert in organic traffic growth. 5. Elena Verna's Growth Scoop newsletter Subscribe if only for the sake of the memes. But seriously, some great growth marketing tips there. 6. A Smart Bear by Jason Cohen Long-form articles on building high-growth companies. Lots of useful frameworks. 7. Bram's Buzz by Bram Van der Hallen A great one for keeping up with the latest Meta ad updates & trends. I like it a bit less because it's a LinkedIn newsletter. As the name suggests, this one's about great copywriting examples and advice relevant to everyone wishing to write better. Actionable and well-researched advice on brand positioning + personal branding. The CXL marketing courses are the only ones I didn't regret buying.
